Yerba Buena Gardens Festival is hiring! Join the 2026 Event Staff team and help manage outdoor performing arts programs and private rental events in Yerba Buena Gardens. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a thriving artistic and cultural scene in the heart of San Francisco.
Located in San Francisco on Mission Street (between 3rd & 4th), Yerba Buena Gardens Festival takes place from May – October and features world-renowned performances of music, dance, theater, poetry, and children’s programs- all FREE to the public. Private rentals take place year round.
Note: All events take place outdoors in Yerba Buena Gardens. We are a separate organization and not affiliated with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts/YBCA.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be personable and exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills
- High standard of professionalism, reliability and punctuality
- Friendly, outgoing personality. Ability to start conversations with people of all backgrounds
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic outdoor environment
- This is a very physical job. Must be able to be on your feet standing and walking for up to 4 hours at a time and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, take initiative, and problem solve while maintaining a calm composure
- Attention to detail and ability to follow directions thoroughly
- Availability to work both weekends and weekdays, occasional early or late hours
- Experience with arts events or outdoor programs as an usher or a house manager is preferred but not required. All hires will receive on-the-job training upon hire
Key Job Duties:
- Work as member of a dynamic team under direction of Event Managers
- Assist with set-up and take-down of stage canopies and outdoor tables and chairs
- Provide excellent customer service to artists, audiences, clients, and members of the public
- Answer questions and provide program information and general directions to the public
- Engagement with audience members, including: event calendar distribution, administration of audience surveys, assist in collecting audience donations during and after performances
- Monitor equipment loading/set-up & load-out for large festivals & private events
- Enforce property safety and security guidelines
- Liaise with clients, work crews, and members of the public during rental events
- Use a two-way radio for communication
This is a part-time on-call position; weekly work schedule varies according to our program calendar and rental events. Great opportunity for students, artists and anyone with a flexible schedule who would like to contribute to a dynamic performing arts organization.
