Our world premiere of “Here We Go!” is right around the corner. The final week of putting on a show is all about the details: polishing choreography, last minute adjustments on tricks, sewing costumes, rehearsing the band, and finding that perfect prop for the clown act.
Tomorrow, after months of rehearsals and planning we put the individual pieces together and run through the show as it will be performed next week. It is magical after so many months of practicing to suddenly see the the circus come to life.
Looking forward to seeing you ringside next week!

In rehearsal we are working closely with our guest Director, Sara Moore, who for the first time enables us to have an “outside eye” in our creative process. Here are a few notes from our fearless director:
Coming on as the third eye of Circus Bella has been like jumping headlong into a human jungle gym, one with a whole lot of drive and soul! We’ve been building a more character-driven circus while maintaining the super clear vision of both Abby and David who hold true to the tradition of powerfully crafted acts and clown-driven transitions. Within that framework the clowns and their annoyances are more punctuated and cartoonish than ever, with the bonus of a surprise skill for each clown revealed somewhere in the show.
The strong addition of the table sliding act allows every member of the company to play whimsy to the extreme while hurtling themselves ever buoyantly across a slick tabletop with acrobatic abandon. The act is a mash-up of classic table sliding, physical comedy, acrobatics and eccentric dance. The company shines both collectively and individually in this act which is really the centerpiece of the show. “Here We Go!” is no doubt the harbinger of an even more jubilant Bella to come in the very bright future of our own Bay Area circus.
