Less than 4 days until the YBG Festival kick-off event, and we are full of news and activity.
First, we have an important program update. We’ve all been looking forward to seeing Latin jazz master Eddie Palmieri perform here this Sunday to open our Festival. This morning we received the following message from Eddie:
I sincerely apologize for my absence at the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival performance on Sunday, May 4th. At this time it is necessary for me to be by the side of my wife of 59 years as she is in critical condition. My lovely wife Iraida has been suffering from a rare form of cancer for some six months. I send my deepest regards to all of my fans and ask that you keep us in your prayers.
—Eddie Palmieri
Our hearts go out to Eddie and the Palmieri family. We hope to have him back in Yerba Buena Gardens in the near future.
But who could possibly take Eddie’s place and perform in less than 4 days? It was a no-brainer …
With some quick shuffling of schedules, Grammy-winning PACIFIC MAMBO ORCHESTRA has agreed to step in on short notice. And given the many clamors we’ve received of “bring PMO back!” after their performance here last year, it seems we can’t get enough of them.
You have roughly 92 hours left to look up “salsa moves” on YouTube, absorb all that dance knowledge, send Facebook invites to all your cool party friends (remind them it’s FREE), pick out a hot outfit, and be ready to bust out flashy footwork to the sounds of Pacific Mambo Orchestra.
