For more than three decades, AXIS Dance Company has insistently stretched the possibilities of dance. Founded in 1987 and located in Oakland, the contemporary dance institution is the nation’s most acclaimed company featuring disabled and non-disabled performers. Now directed by internationally esteemed choreographer Marc Brew, AXIS continues to premiere groundbreaking new pieces by some of the world’s leading dance makers. Returning to the Gardens, the company presents a lively interactive performance with excerpts from the current repertoire including Flutter by Robert Dekker, Historias Rotas by Nadia Adame, and an exclusive sneak peek of new work by Jennifer Archibald.
