This year’s Yerba Buena Salsa Nights series builds on the YBG Festival’s long and deep history presenting the finest Latin bands on the scene, artists like Uruguayan-born percussionist Edgardo Cambón. He’s marking 40 years of performing in the Bay Area, 20 years after the release of his acclaimed Celebrando 20 Años album which he celebrated at YBG Festival. Born and raised in Montevideo, he started performing at the age of nine, and made his professional debut singing tangos on public television. He went on to work across South America, Europe, Africa, and, since 1986, the U.S. Over the years Cambón has shared the stage and studio with Latin music legends such as Chucho Valdés, Eddie Palmieri, Carlos Santana, Jerry Rivera, Omar Sosa, Karl Perazzo and the Grammy Award-winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra. He’ll be presenting original music drawn from his five albums, including 2025’s For Export, as well as original unreleased compositions and his expertly arranged versions of classic tunes representing Dominican bachata, Colombian cumbia, merengue and even candombe, the Afro-Uruguayan rhythm rarely heard on Bay Area stages.

A 30-minute beginner dance lesson with Rueda Con Ritmo starts at 5:30pm. No partner required!
