Grounded in Appalachian old-time repertoire, seasoned in African-diaspora roots, and composing original music inspired by life in Oakland and globe-spanning tours, the kinetic Evie Ladin Band erases the lines between music and movement. A trio of tenaciously innovative string musicians and dancers, the combo features Ladin’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice and rhythmic dance, Keith Terry’s body music, bass and vocals, and Erik Pearson’s guitar, banjo and vocals. The band’s eponymous 2012 release won Americana Album of the Year from the Independent Music Awards and critics heralded the 2016 follow up Jump the Fire for introducing a truly original sound in new old-time Americana.
