Probably best known as leader and vocalist for the acclaimed Latin-reggae outfit Bayonics, Rojai (aka Jairo Vargas) is a charismatic frontman who brings soul-steeped authority to every setting. As the leader of The Pocket, he’s honed a captivating body of original songs marked by his trademark combination of grit and growl. Showcasing his passionate crooning, funky electro-soul beats and old-school hip-hop flows, the loose and limber arrangements make the most of the formidable band. The Pocket features some of the region’s leading players, drawing from the Bayonics rhythm section, which has backed notable artists such as Eric Roberson, Anthony David, Jaguar Wright, Lady Alma, China Blac and Big Brooklyn Red.
