An extended family of San Francisco musicians have fleshed out the mysterious and baroque songs of The View From Bernal Hill, but the core of this roiling sonic endeavor is French-Vietnamese composer Camille Mai, Argentine guitarist Nahuel Bronzini, and Seattleite bassist Schuyler Karr. Born out the creative ferment of Occupy SF in 2012, the ensemble has forged an unstable amalgam of odd-meter rock, chamber jazz harmonies, and hip-hop lyricism. As resident artists at the Red Poppy Art House since 2014, TVFBH has become even more deeply enmeshed in the Mission arts scene, where they explore psychological and spiritual extremes, and the hidden fault lines between dread and beauty.
