Straight outta Macedonia, the Roma brass band sensation Džambo Aguševi Orchestra turns the Gardens into a raging Balkan dance party. Led by the brilliant trumpeter Džambo Aguševi, the group headlines the Roma Festival, an event presented by the human rights advocacy organization Voice of Roma. Dedicated to the promotion of Balkan Romani (Gypsy) arts and traditions, VoR has long played an essential role in bringing Roma musicians to the Bay Area. Making its San Francisco debut, Aguševi’s eight-piece orchestra has earned respect around the world with innovative arrangements designed to make dancing irresistible. The festival includes a Romani dance workshop led by Šani Rifati. He also leads a panel discussion on Romani music and culture with fellow Voice of Roma leader Carol Silverman.
