Many an American jazz singer has fallen in love with Brazilian music, but few have pursued the passion as ardently and intelligently as San Francisco vocalist Sandy Cressman. After releasing two albums interpreting Brazilian jazz standards with her excellent band Homenagem Brasileira, she plunged into creating new music herself with leading Brazilian jazz artists on her acclaimed 2017 album Entre Amigos, which features her collaborations with Brazilian masters such as Antonio Adolfo, Jovino Santos Neto, Spok Frevo, and Ian Faquini. She’ll be drawing from her expansive book of standards and originals for this performance with pianist Murray Low, bassist David Belove, drummer Dillon Vado, and her husband Jeff Cressman, a powerhouse trombonist who spent nearly two decades touring with Santana.
